Allah to Muslims: Chill, dudes

So Muslims around the world have been rioting over a series of Danish newspaper cartoons. Smashing, grabbing, setting fires and all the associated rioting good times. They seem to have their panties in a twist over the fact that these cartoons (a) depict a visualization of Mohammed, a definite no-no, and (b) that they actually are a satirical depiction of Mohammed, which is apparently a killin' offence.

Now, I've always been one for racial and religious tolerance. The old 'let's-all-try-to-get-along' thing. If Muslims are a wee sensitive to satirical cartoons, then maybe all the European newspapers should stop publishing them. They have, and have issued an apology.

But the Muslims are still rioting.

It's become crystal clear that the rioters need to seriously chill out. I saw one man interviewed on CNN saying that the artist who drew those cartoons should have his hand severed. Uh-huh. Welcome to the world of cultural and political satire. Are you really that sensitive that a couple of cartoons mean y ou can embrace hooliganism? What are you -- English soccer fans?

I think it's time ol' Allah came down from paradise and blew the time-out whistle.
