New government sets world record for causing scandal

It would seem that new PM Stephen Harper's government has set a world record, taking only 5 minutes after being sworn in to cause it's first scandal.

After spending months expressing his outrage at the patronage and "culture of entitlement" exhibited by the ruling Liberals, as well as running on an election platform promising to appoint only "elected" senators, Harper stunned even his own redneck supporters by appointing an unelected Tory party crony as minister of Public Works.

Muah-ha-ha-ha. Man, this is friggin' sweet.

Public Works, you'll recall, was the department at the centre of the sponsorship scandal which was the final nail in the Liberals' coffin. And Harper's "cleaning it up" by having it run by Michael Fortier, a man who doesn't even have a seat in the House of Commons. A man who, instead, has been appointed by Harper -- not "elected" -- to the Senate. A man who will be able to run the department with an iron fist and be accountable to nobody except the PM.

But of course, we trust you, Stephen.
